The Elf On The Shelf
So, this morning we found a package on the hearth of our fireplace. Addressed to Jack, Sam and Will. It came from the North Pole. It was wrapped in Christmas paper and enclosed a note. The note was from Santa. It told the boys since it was the first day of snow he was sending one of his best helpers to watch them. The package was a book. It also included a small elf that Brian named Stevie. (as we were instructed to name it) We read the book and learned that the elf would travel back and forth from our home to the North Pole to report how they had been that day. Wow. Is all I can say. Wow. Jack thought it would be a good idea to say a prayer to his Heavenly Father (Are you kidding me? Stinking cute!) and thanked Him for the "nicely elf that has come to our home to help us to be good". The boys proceeded to snuggle on the couch and watch Home Alone (their current favorite). I think this is going to be good.

Pee in the Pepsi Cup
So, as I scrambled to get all of the kiddos ready today, including myself and to the gym for a 9am class, Sam informs me in the car that he needs to go pee. I really thought he could hold it, but as the 25 minute drive pressed on, I knew we needed another solution. So, being the intuitive mother that I am, I pulled over and whipped out an empty water bottle and let him pee in it. He was utterly delighted! Later that afternoon as I was rushing in the kitchen at home to make some cowboy caviar, Sam brings me a cardboard pepsi cup filled with pee. "I peed in the cup"! Yup, this was the training of not an Aunt or an Uncle but his own mother. Way to go mom.

Watch out for that LADY!
When is it that you go from being a "girl" or a "chick" to a "lady"? Brian stayed home with the kiddos tonight so that I could have a few minutes at the grocery store all to myself. (so nice) While waiting in the checkout line a little girl is "helping" her mom push her cart and load groceries onto the conveyor belt behind me. "Watch out for that lady". Umm I think I would rather be scuffed by the cart. Lady? Blah! Anyway, a very successful day of crafting with Nikki Speirs today. We made that cutest dang wreaths ever. I will take a picture and post it. Did I mention how lucky I am? Wow. This life has come together way better than I ever imagined it could. Brian is so great, and the kids are doing so well. Huh, lucky me!!!

My Little One Is One.
Just one year ago, I felt a little strange. "I'm two weeks early and this can't be it". Hours later, the little body that dwelled in mine I got to meet. Bittersweet at first. "His breathing isn't quite right" "We need to take him". Please No! That is all I could think. I can't do this. I am not strong enough. The next 24 hours were brutal. I watched as you struggled for your new little life. As they poked and prodded. All I wanted to do was to hold you and feed you. The night they moved you from Alta View to IMC, you gave me my testimony. The spirit was so strong in that room. I have never felt it like that before. I received a small piece of Heaven that night. I was so scared, but I knew that my Heavenly Father was real. He was there that night to protect us. Through 9 days of tubes and 2 ventilators, X-rays and feeding tubes, your lungs did heal. You were much braver than I. And now here you are to prove to the world that you did arrive that September 3rd night. That you will move mountains, and you will be brave. You will take on the world with you independency and you will charm them as you do it. I love you little one.

PROUD
In the midst of my afternoon, not to mention I think Will is cutting teeth and has been a let's just say a little clingy mama boy, Jack tells me, "Mom, I am proud that you are my mom". I dropped to my knees and hugged is 30lb body. How do they know? What could have inspired my 6 year old to tell me that? Thank You Jack. Mama needed that today.

And so it began...
I relate back to my 8 year old journal, discussing feelings, yes 8. I remember a little clown spinner wheel that came with my baptism journal to help me choose a feeling that I wanted to focus on. "Today I feel very triky. I triked my bruthers. I feel funny inside". I have decided once again to focus on my feelings, and now feeling OVERWHELMED in the blogging world, I have decided to take it on by storm. Better late than never is what someone said, and so I find myself here on blogspot. I am ready to not lose what my silly boys say everyday, and ready to feel accomplished in journaling if only for me. So HELLO Blog world.
